About the Artisan/Owner
Michael
Martindell grew up in a small coastal town in Mendocino County California,
living in Redwood country has inspired many great artists and provided
exposure to the creative expressionism Michael embraced from a young
age. Michael applied his gift as an artist to a verity of different
mediums including paper, canvas, pottery, wood and Native American
jewelry. He sold his first piece at age 11 for $10.00
As a young man Michael joined the US Navy, which brought him to
Hawaii in the winter of 92 where he fell in love with Hawaii’s
unrivaled beauty and a particular lady whom he married and now has
two children with.
A culmination of his skills in metal fabrication, gained from his
US Navy career as a sheet metal technician and the creative talents
he possessed was manifested into a passion for artistic expressions
in metal. Through determination and persistence L & M Metal
Works was born and now boasts many of Michael’s dynamic creations,
which can be seen throughout Oahu, Big Island and soon on Maui.
